Default removing heat proofing under bonnet....

i've noticed on alot of pics that ppl have removed the ugly heatproofing from the underside of the bonnet.

how is this possible while not causing the paint on top to peel or fade?

isnt that dodgy carpet more down to noise reuction, not heat transfer?

my old VW (ok it was only a 1 litre 4 banger) only had paint on the underside of the hood! well and dirt and grease and oil nad some stickers but hey...

the El series didnt come out with the heatproofing.
it was mainly for what thepedster said.. Noise reduction.

My EA fairmont Ghia does so did my EA S pack, I dont advise moving it, because when I rolled my car it was the only thing stopping the battery from shorting out and the car catching fire

Your battery shouldnt come into contact with the bonnet if it was tied down and had the terminal covers fitted

i think it looks better than just a normal panel, and the falcon motors are a bit on the noisy side so it is best there

I dont see any reason to remove it unless your going to be painting the engine bay. And as frost said if its there, its there for reason.

Its for noise and thats about it, I removed mine as it was falling about and a little oil soaked, having none is not a problem, but I do think it looks alot tidier with it.

I've still got mine despite it having a big tear. A while ago, the clips that hold it were falling out causing it to hang down, where it was blown around by the fan, causing it to tear. Since then, I've replaced the clips and it won't be going anywhere now!

Faded bonnets are SO common on VN commodores and I'm assuming it's partly caused by no under bonnet insulation. Seeing them is a daily reminder that it's probably a good idea to leave it there.

I think it's just crap paint. Stacks of them have faded roofs as well.

Only problem with them is they COST too much. :(
