People will start reading about this in news sites:

"EXCLUSIVE: THEY do make 'em like they used to. The iconic Falcon GT returns to Ford's Broadmeadows production line today for the first time in 37 years.

Australia's most powerful V8 sedan has been brought in-house after the company that did the final assembly work for the past 21 years closed its doors in December.

The last time a Falcon GT went down Ford's main production line was in June 1976. It cost just $6200, a fraction of today's $70,000 price tag"

Read details http://www.news.com.au/business/comp...#ixzz2LBcw4LDG

If only it wasnt 70K, people would probably buy more of them.

Cheers

It was more like 1500 FPV's including GS, F6 & GT variants.

Also R Spec pumped sales a bit.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but today there is a small article in the Herald-Sun Page 3, name not supplied, that quashes all the good in that article on the news website.

GT revived for a lap of glory

Sometimes they do make them like they used to. Today the Falcon GT returns to Ford's Broadmeadows production line for the first time in 37 years.

The last time Australia's most powerful V8 sedan went down Ford's main production line was in June 1976, when it cost just $6200 - a fraction of today's $70,000 price tag.

The GT's return to Broadmeadows, after the company that assembled it for the past 21 years closed its doors in December, is unlikely to be the Falcon's saviour. Its 14,000 sales last year, including about 1500 GT's and other Falcon performance models, was the lowest since the Ford Falcon began in 1960.
Wonder who wrote that? No prizes for guessing.

A mostly positive article ( rare from Dowling) this quote looks like a good sign for the continuation of the Falcon

"The investment and effort we've put into bringing FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) back in-house proves our dedication to the brand and our customers in this segment,'' Ford Australia President and CEO, Bob Graziano, told News Limited.

i don`t know that`s entirely true, he may not have payed for one but according to this article...........

http://v8racecar.wordpress.com/2010/...ffats-xy-gtho/

Moffat was given the car by Ford and he kept it until selling it in ’78 to some businessmen in Adelaide who then sold it onto a Sydney man from whom David Bowden purchased it in 1995. The car was still in original condition but with many of the original ’73 race parts missing. (No doubt fitted to the XB hardtops raced in the ’74 season.)

No wonder Ford are going down the shitter. As soon as they put that picture up people guessed it. No meed to wait for Monday. If they had half a brain, they would anticipate that we would guess it's the GT, but then do something totally unexpected and release something like a 351kw model.

They give themselves all these opportunities and then just **** on it.

Same with the Rspec ute. How hard would it have been to give it the wider wheels and 335 tune and dual exhaust outlet? Instead they release a GS with a sticker pack.

I hate holden with a passion, but at least they dont half *** every opportunity, hence why they will always be ahead. Ford has had so many opportunities.

Marketing hype at its finest. Serve up more of the same (with outdated technology by world standards) and try and dress it up as something fresh while playing on the history.

Meanwhile over in the US a premium spec Mustang with its Coyote 5.0 sells for $35K retail, almost exactly half the price !! Hmmm...

with a population of 313 million to sell to compared to a population of 22.5 million the US has the luxury of a bigger market to offset development costs making the overall package cheaper

That's a given, I guess all i'm getting at is in terms of "News" per se, this is only barely newsworthy, whereas a 2015 model Mustang that arrives bringing Global production efficiencies would rate as profoundly more newsworthy IMO. I guess I'm just an impatient old bugger, a little tired of paying over the odds for performance cars, so please forgive me if this kind of Marketing driven news release with nothing whatsoever in it for the customer grinds my gearstick a little.

crApple Pfffft! - Waste of money.

Ford GT - overpriced - but the whole thing is around the In-House project since in the 70s.

Cost and quality vs export isnt going lower the price anymore, as parts distributors shutdown late last year and ruined business (economy) of these types of builds.

Look at what a GT was back in the day $6200 +
A standard Falcon 500 $2400-$2600. Roughly 3 times the amount

Look at it today, an FG povo base pack about $25k newish these days vs a GT near 3 times that amount..same same..different times.

Cheers

Sorry, to rain on Ford's parade but the SRT8 is $5k cheaper and with more kit...then there is the SRT8 coming with less kit...Ford need a price revision..I hope it sells....

Rodge the new VF SS is going to be $10k cheaper in America than here ??? so, the American scale of economies theory doesn't work. If the VF SS is built here, shipped to America and sold for $10k less, than here, why cann't it be sold here for the same price. and the aussie $$ is parity with the $us...aussies have been ripped off for years with car prices.....

No, I don't think you are not sorry at all, complaining about Ford and promoting everything else makes up almost all of what you post on here.

Go and buy a Chrysler or Holden or whatever PLEASE. I am sure they have forums just waiting for thousands of posts about how much better they are than Ford.....

And Rodge, the GT is the first AUSTRALIAN GT built at the Broadmeadows facility in Victoria which is a state of AUSTRALIA in 37 years.
Please post up some news on the New Zealand designed and built cars and how they compare to the rest of the world or better still, pics of your new SRT8 that you traded your GT-P on.
