If I go to court, to have a parking ticket heard, and I lose, what would the court costs be?

No they aren't. They are about $40 for a simple case like that. I've defended unsuccessfully a couple of fines in the last year, and if you are nice to the magistrate it's highly likely that costs won't be mentioned anyway. It says in here somewhere: http://www.trafficlaw.com.au/speeding.fines.html They are not always charged to the loser of a case. if you win you can ask for costs. The other costs are a day off work and your research time.

I wouldn't think you would be made to pay court costs contesting a parking ticket.

Court costs vary depending on the state. Best suggestion is start googling your states court details and you will get a more accurate amount rather than the above helpful posts.

I didn't think it needed to go as far as court...like with a speeding ticket, the first thing to contest it is to go to the cop shop and get a statutory declaration to fill out outlining your case. This gets sent off and you wait for a reply.
Of course the answer will usually be "we're right, you're wrong, pay up", but at least you've made them investigate it on their time and money and not yours in a court room where it's "we're right, you're wrong, pay up...plus costs". |

I think youd be better off following the proper process and asking the courts themselves - they would know, more so than most here.

According to eBay the cost of "Court" (my exact search term) ranged from 50 cents to $460,000.
