Ok its kinda driving me nuts a bit, but my wagon has developed a noise which sounds like a worn bearing.
Car has only 130000, checked the front bearings and hubs were ok, no noise, but one spun slower then the other, so I decided to replace them anyways. No change. Up on hoist, spun rear tyres and its a bit noisy, bearin cup worn, replaced outer bearings, still make a bit of chatter (diff noise). Diff oils been replaced recently as well. Noise isnt very loud, but its noticable above 80kmh (but again not that loud). There is a balancer on the tailshaft, could it be this? Or worn uni's?

What sort of tyres are on the car and how many kms are on them? Cheap chinese tyres, especially ones with chunky blocks on the shoulders tend to wear, especially the shoulders, not unlike a knobby on a dirt bike that's used on the road. They wear away the back of the block so eventually the shoulder has a serrated look about it. This causes the now mis-shapened block to "slap" onto the road instead of rolling onto the road thus causing excessive tyre noise. I had this happen with a nasty set of Triangle branded 17s' I stupidly put on the Fairlane last year. After 10,000km the tyre noise was very noticeable and it just got worse till it was horrid.

maybe you could check Bushbashers tyre theory by swapping them front to back .

Yea i thought maybe it was road noise from them (havent swapped tyres front to rear). But depending on road surface I get a different tyre noise in the back ground, but the other noise is constant (ie doesnt change).
