Still, reliable car.

Nothing wrong with having a Ford family, just shows how reliable and nice looking they still are, at least you have no Crappadores in your driveway :jab: I just bought the wife a series 2 Forte and she couldn't be happier. :evilking:

If it was really more to do with price, they'd have a family of EF or EL's!

Stick with your EL, I'll take my AU's anyday!

At one stage my family had 4 E-series and 1 X-series vehicles, but damn 5 Au's.

Is the first person to get a B series going to be exiled from the family?

Also, in addition to the current "flock", I've had :

I reckon the AU XR in future years will be sought after. Its like the old GT's that were in wierd colours. Now they are the most valuable as there arent as many etc.

Same thing with the AU. Wont be as many around, and in future years they will age alot better then the BA and the series 3 BA (bf)

We've had a mint venom red au2 xr8 auto with 40,000km

Ford fairlane sportsman with tickford sunroof that the olds currently drive and is arguablly one of the best examples.

My whyllie old TE50 which despite 130,000 is still a fire breathing dragon as you can see.

Sure, that's why you tripped over the chain trying to get to one, or was that a chat with a fellow AU enthusiast! LOL!

Perhaps you sounded a tad cheeky when you suggested that people now buying AU's was basically due to price!

If you haven't worked it out, there are stacks of us here that love the look of the AU. I chose 2 AU's over older Falcons, I could've had 2 Fairmont Ghias for the same price, but I chose 2 AU's.

It wasn't price, it was looks and lots of other things also.

Hope that clears up things from my perspective at least! Thanks for your post!

My sil borrowed his dad's BF XR6T when he visited yesterday.

He parked it in the driveway behind my AU.

Call me crazy, but for me the AU (with spoiler) has a much nicer rear end.

I don't really want to discuss the front, the BA/BF is miles ahead (actually it's just the headlights, the rest of the AU front is quite ok).
Maybe I'll get used to the headlights....

Thanks - it quite often was mistaken for a T series, even though the front bar is actually half Forte, and half HSV GTS. I guess the T emblem and the mesh grille helped fool people - but even a couple of actual T series owners were fooled too (T1/T2).
