Filling LW TDCi Focus

Tried to fill my wifes Focus today from a couple of plastic jerry cans of diesel I had in the garage. As the Focus doesn't have a fuel cap I tried to push in the plastic pourer spout on the jerry can into the filler but for the life of me could not get the little door to open and allow it in.

No matter how or what I tried the pourer was not going in.
Tried pushing down on the black plastic slider thing on the bottom of the filler neck with no result.
I finally gave in and drove it up to the local servo to fill it and the filler nozzle went in as per usual.

Has anyone successfully put fuel into one of these from a jerry can?

I know that if you ran out of fuel on the side of the road you'd be stuffed.

the way around this issue is to use the adaptor in the boot that is designed for using high flow diesel pumps

The LW Focus comes with a plastic pourer for when you need to fill up with a jerry can.

This should be in the boot

There should be a little plastic funnel thing with your spare tyre that pushes past the flap in the filler entry. This allows you to use a jerry can.

I keep mine in the glove box...

My LV MkII came with one, my partner's TDCi Fiesta came with one, you should have one .

Ha...........didn't think of that.
I have pinched that out of her Focus and put it in my Jeep so I can use the high flow pumps as the Jeep has a much bigger tank than the Focus.

I would have thought the pourer spout on the jerry would do the same thing........guess not.

I'll try that next time.

Just buy a second one if you use it for your Jeep, they are only a few dollars from Ford spare parts.
