Default Auto selection light fail

Hi everyone,
Cars up for Rego and I believe the issue I have here can be/is a defect so I hope you may be able to help me here.
The selection light on the auto selector doesn't light up so I've been busy pulling it apart, what a pita job. I'm stuck at the console box and can't seem to get it out even though I've undone all the securing screws. I feel like I'm missing something here. What a stupid bloody setup. I can't believe Ford made it so hard to replace a globe as they don't last forever so they have to be replaced sometime. I just wanted to check the globe to see if it's blown or a bad connection. There's no other way to get to it is there?
Your advice or solution will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.
Grahame.

don't stress .... .. we all think that when doing a floor shift globe in the 'B' series.
