Yes they had a few improvements but a different coat of paint (red/blue/black) didn't exactly make them a different or modern engine did it, even if it fooled Holden buyers into thinking so

And slicing two cylinders off an engine designed as an inline six isn't exactly the text-book way to design a good inline 4 cyl. Oh Holden
