KF auto

Hi all , Just a quick question . My son has just bought a KF laser (auto ).
The car is in pretty good condition . The main problem is the auto gearbox , it seems to rev out in 1st gear ( doesn't seem to make any difference if you floor it if just take of nice and easy ) then it really slams into 2nd. I had a look under the bonnet and found that the hose that comes out of what looks like the servo ( in the top of the gearbox ) it is about 200mm long and has a screw stuck in the end to block it off. I guess it is a vacumn hose .
Does anyone know where the other end is supposed to be connected to ?
