When they work on development periods of 3-5 years (which is getting even shorter these days, more like 2-3 years) then it’s wise to just see how the market goes rather than just saying we will do this on this date etc. You can’t force your customers to buy something they might not want.
Imagine offering your customers nothing but ev’s when half of them still want ice’s or hybrids. You would be screwed.

The announcement is all about doubling down on those recent stock price increases,
look for GM to float more stock and bring in more cash to accelerate developments.
This is very GM, they throw out press releases to get the glory at being first at something
and then go off spending a ton of money doing it regardless of whether the timing is right or not.
To me the rhetoric doesn't match the planned BEVs arriving in the next few years, all of them
are either exclusive and high priced or more volume but still premium priced. GM has done nothing
to convince it's high profit truck and full sized SUV buyers to go 100% electric, I guess that's why
it's allowing 14 years for total transition.
