I don't even have to use the reflective backing. Actually the reflective backing was WAY too bright even on the lowest brightness setting. If you put the HUD close enough to the glass you don't get the double image effect, and you can still see the HUD speedo on a really bright day.
I can't go back to a normal setup now. Whenever I drive someone else's car I find looking down at the dash distracting.
